ROBERT BRUCE MIDDLE SCHOOL – PRAISED FOR ACHIEVEMENT

After a recent Ofsted inspection, Robert Bruce Middle School has now been removed from its notice to improve, having made rapid and significant improvement. The school's capacity for sustained improvement is outlined in Ofsted's report as good.
The report also states how outstanding guidance by the Executive Head teacher has ensured good leadership across the school at all levels, which is now satisfactory in its Overall Effectiveness.
Cllr David Sawyer, Portfolio Holder for Education at Bedford Borough Council, said: "Ofsted recognised that there is a calm and purposeful ethos across the whole school, and this can be attributed to the hard work of its staff which has led to student enthusiasm and engagement. I am pleased that a focused strategy for ensuring progress has paid-off and staff, governors and pupils can be proud of the school's growing achievement."
Ursula Byrne, Executive Head teacher atRobertBruceMiddle School, said: "Importantly, Ofsted recognised that our teaching and learning was deemed good with the vast majority of teachers being graded good/outstanding. I am extremely proud to be at the helm of a school that has so much loyalty and commitment from its entire staff but also has totally focused happy and achieving pupils."
The governing body observed that students are now responding to good teaching and resources and are appreciating what the school provides through a wide-range of opportunities to gain a sense of success.
