BUMPER TURN OUT FOR ANNUAL RISELEY LITTER PICK

17 May 2012

The annual Riseley Spring Clean again attracted villagers of all ages to help improve their local area on Saturday 12th May.

In the weeks leading up to the litter pick, local school children had already designed posters to encourage volunteers to get involved. On the day, 63 people came out and joined the Pride inBedfordteam and collected a range of litter and other items, including:

· 67 bags of litter

· Various car parts

· 3 tyres

· Oil drum

· Radiator

· TV

· Plastic dog basket

Councillor Sarah-Jayne Holland, Portfolio Holder for Community and Regulatory Services, said: "The annual Riseley Spring Clean event is always well supported and this year was no different with volunteers of all ages coming out to help improve the village.

"There was a great atmosphere on the day which helped everyone to collect 67 bags of litter as well as other strange pieces, including car parts and a plastic dog basket!

"Further litter picks will be taking place throughout the summer across Bedford Borough and I hope they will continue to be well supported."
