Allotments saved from potential developments

A Liberal Democrat motion to protect allotments from development has been backed by the Council.
Liberal Democrat Group Leader Henry Vann successfully proposed that the Council should not sell off allotments in order to raise money.
Cllr Vann moved that as allotments are vital to the health and wellbeing of our communities and contribute positively to biodiversity and have local ecological benefit, they should not be considered for the purposes of raising money.
Cllr Vann commented, “I am delighted that this motion was passed. There are some assets which are too important to our communities to sell off. We must preserve our green spaces and maintain our vital allotments for residents’ use and enjoyment.”
