Cotton End Forest School was officially opened this week, and Mayor Dave Hodgson joined Eastcotts Ward Cllr Sarah Gallagher at the opening to congratulate staff and pupils on their fantastic new school.

Mayor Dave has uploaded a number of photos from the event on his Facebook page, here, where he commented:

"Yesterday I joined Cllr Sarah Gallagher at the official opening of the new Cotton End Forest School.

I was pleased to have the chance to congratulate the Governing Body, staff and in particular the children on their fantastic new school, and to wish them the very best for an enjoyable and successful future there.

The school has been designed as a Forest School to embrace outdoor learning and all of its benefits for children and staff. As part of the opening Cllr Gallagher and I helped members of the School Council and staff to plant some seeds and bury a time capsule - you can see some action shots amongst these photos!

Cotton End Forest School is the tenth school to have opened in Bedford Borough since I was first elected in 2009. We've stayed ahead of population growth to avert the school places crisis seen elsewhere and to make sure there are places available for ALL children."
