Buy in Bedford Campaign

I launched the Council's new 'Buy in Campaign' at Podington Garden Centre last week. I have set up this campaign in order to support our local businesses right across the Borough. During these difficult economic times, it is important that we support our local traders, and buying locally helps our local economy, helps to sustain and enhance our communities and is also good for the environment, of course.

This campaign is not just about the town centre - our village stores and neighbourhood shopping parades are equally as important to the fabric of our communities. We have a great range of stores in the Borough, and you can, buy, see, do or eat all manner of things thanks to our local businesses!

I enjoyed my visit to Podington Garden Centre, where I kick-started my Christmas shopping! You really can get all sorts there, and it's a great example of a successful, local independent retailer.
