Councillor compares conditions of some international recruits in adult social care to 'modern day slavery'

Speaking at Tuesday night’s Adult Services Overview and Scrutiny Committee (September 2), councillor Tim Caswell (Goldington) raised the case of a anonymised care worker.
Taking care not to identify either the worker or their employer, Cllr Caswell spoke of how the recruit routinely worked 15 hour shifts (7am - 10pm); was paid 25p per mile for petrol; and 50p per hour travelling time.
Cllr Caswell called for a full investigation into the case.
