Daisy Cooper visits Bedford, backs Henry Vann for Mayor

Daisy Cooper MP, Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrats and MP for St Albans, visited Bedford on Thursday 2nd July to endorse Henry Vann’s campaign to become Mayor.

Speaking at a members' event, Daisy said: “Henry and the local Liberal Democrats represent the change that can deliver a brighter Bedford. 

“The last mayoral election was decided by just 145 votes: it’s clear that this time, Henry Vann is the only candidate who can beat Reform, consign the failing Conservative Mayor to history, and deliver the strong local leadership the people and businesses of Bedford Borough deserve.” 

Henry Vann, Liberal Democrat Mayoral Candidate, said: 

“It was fantastic to talk to Daisy about our local Liberal Democrat vision for a brighter Bedford. And her visit is a strong vote of confidence that we Lib Dems can win here. 

“After four years of a failing Conservative Mayor, people are fed up of seeing their hard-earned cash squandered on vanity projects; we Lib Dems are committed to protecting local services and delivering the positive change our area needs. 

“It was brilliant to be able to discuss the opportunities and positive vision of a Council that works for residents, protects frontline services, cares for the vulnerable and seizes the opportunities in front of us. Currently, things are not right. It is not good enough. We need change urgently.”
