Defend the Right of EU Citizens

This week Richard Fuller confirmed at a public meeting that he would not vote to guarantee EU citizens' rights despite claiming that he supported their rights.

Cllr Henry Vann (Lib Dem) said: 'We need action, not words; Mr Fuller says he supports EU citizens rights but won't vote for it - that isn't good enough and he is letting down Bedford Borough residents.

'For local people, EU citizens are our neighbours, friends, families, partners, parents - people not bargaining chips. If the Government truly is guaranteeing EU citizens their rights, then why not back the amendment this week that instructs the Government to back EU citizen's rights?

'Mr Fuller must this week put his vote where his mouth is and back the rights of Bedford and Kempston residents, reassuring words are not good enough.'
