It was the official launch of Putnoe Primary School on Friday 21st October. The Portfolio Holder for Education, Cllr David Sawyer, visited the school to mark the occasion and was given a tour of the premises and watched a student performance in the assembly hall at 2.30pm.

Bedford Borough Council, working with Putnoe Lower and Mark Rutherford Upper schools and their governing bodies, put in place new teaching arrangements from September 2010. Year 5 and 6 pupils were taught under the leadership of Gill Peck Head teacher at Putnoe Lower at the Woodside site, with years 7 and 8 attending Mark Rutherford Upper School, under Head teacher Steve Peacey. This year, after substantial refurbishment, Years 1 - 4 have been relocated from the Putnoe Lower site to the Woodside site which is now the permanent site for Putnoe Primary School.

Cllr David Sawyer said: "We welcome Putnoe Primary School to the Borough. The school has done extremely well under the strong leadership of Gill Peck and has already secured an ethos of excellent individual care and support, to introduce children to school life with an interesting, well-organised range of learning activities. This school has great prospects ahead of it."
