Liberal Democrats call for urgent improvements to Ambulance Service

The East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust has been ranked bottom out of all the Ambulance Services in the whole of England. In the NHS League Tables published today, it was one of only three Trusts to achieve a ‘segment score’ of 4. Segment 1 represents the organisations with the narrowest range of challenges while segment 4 contains those with the broadest.
The league tables have been compiled using a range of factors, such as ambulance response times, overall level of financial deficit and staff satisfaction.
Cllr Dean Crofts, Bedford Borough Liberal Democrat Health Spokesperson, commented:
"It is incredibly disappointing to see our local Trust right at the bottom of this league table. Bedfordshire residents know how hard their ambulance staff work but they are being let down by management and funding failures. The recent reckless decision to close the Bedford Emergency Operations Centre (the best performing call centre in the region) was an outrage.
We call on the Labour Government to fund our NHS Trusts, including our ambulance trusts, properly so that Bedfordshire residents receive the health care they deserve."
