Liberal Democrats celebrate Universal's massive Theme Park investment

Residents across Bedford Borough have been celebrating the news that Universal have given the green light to their exciting theme park project in Kempston Hardwick, in Bedford Borough.

Cllr Henry Vann, leader of the Liberal Democrat Group on Bedford Borough Council welcomed the investment, saying:

”Residents I talk to are really excited about this project and it is fantastic news for Bedford Borough. Universal's decision to build their newest theme park here is a tremendous vote of confidence in Bedford Borough's potential.

“Conversations with Universal first began under former Mayor Dave Hodgson in late 2022 and it is wonderful to see that hard work come to fruition. The Government must commit to supporting local residents with investment in services and infrastructure the instant construction starts, and we will do everything we can to ensure this will happen.

“I would like to pay tribute to everyone involved – the Team from Universal who have been professional and fully engaged with all Councillors throughout and with whom I have met a number of times – and all parties and colleagues at the Council and residents who have worked positively to make this happen."

This week marks the start of an exciting new chapter, which we hope will boost local infrastructure, and bring world-class entertainment, family-friendly attractions, and a significant boost to the local economy. The new park will not only provide unforgettable experiences for visitors but will also create tens of thousands of jobs and business opportunities.
