Mayor Calls for Public Support to Prosecute those who Litter

More than 1,500 bags of rubbish have been collected from roadsides in Bedford Borough in just 4 weeks.

Teams have targeted busy roads around the borough and collected a huge amount of rubbish including cones, pieces of metal, lorry tyres and half a van load of wood.

Lib Dem Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, said: "Our teams have collected a staggering amount of litter however it is unacceptable that a thoughtless minority should cause this blight on our communities.

"I am calling on the vast majority of law abiding residents to help us by reporting anybody seen littering or fly-tipping. We are prosecuting more people than ever before and we will continue to take action to combat this behaviour whenever it occurs."
