Mayor Dave Opens New Hi-Tech 5G enabled Drone Flight Test Facility in Oakley

Mayor Dave Hodgson has welcomed the opening by Blue Bear of a hi-tech, 5G enabled drone flight testing facility in Oakley. The 'beyond visual line of sight' (BVLOS) flight test facility is the very first of its kind in the UK, and it was officially opened by Mayor Dave on a recent visit.

Commenting on his Facebook page, Mayor Dave said: "Delighted to open Blue Bear Systems Research's new hi-tech 5G-enabled drone flight testing facility in Oakley. It was fascinating to learn more about the work they do in what is a fast-growing industry.

Their 'beyond visual line of sight' testing facility is the first of its kind in the UK, and it could be a great catalyst for the industry locally. We have a proud heritage as a hub for the Aerospace industry, and this is a very exciting development.
