Mayor Dave to Keep Fighting for Intercity Trains from Bedford as New Operator is Announced

Mayor Dave Hodgson has pledged to keep making Bedford's case for the return of full intercity fast trains, following the announcement this morning of Abellio as the new operator for the East Midlands Rail franchise from August.
Commenting this morning, Mayor Dave Hodgson said: "I have met with Abellio representatives already as I made our case to the shortlisted bidders, and we're arranging a further meeting with them following this announcement.'
"I will continue to make our case for the full return of intercity fast trains to Bedford, and not just the commuter service between London and Corby that the government wants."
