Mayoral Result latest: Hodgson leads by 300 votes after 1st preference count

Lib Dem Hodgson is 400 votes ahead of the Conservative candidate on 1st preference votes in the Bedford Mayoral Election. The 1st round votes have been announced and have Dave Hodgson first on 9,428 votes to the Conservative's 9,105.

As no candidate received over 50% of the total votes cast, under the AV system, all other candidates are then eliminated and their second preferences transferred. This process is now underway, with the final result expected by late afternoon today.
