Minister confirms unfairness of Council Tax

New facts confirming the unfairness of Council Tax have been revealed in Parliament by the Paymaster General, Dawn Primarolo MP. Asked by the Liberal Democrat Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary, David Laws to reveal how much people pay in Council Tax as a percentage of their income, Ms Primarolo confirmed what we have been saying for ages: that the Council Tax penalizes the poorest!
The poorest poorest fifth of households pays a bigger percentage of his income in Council Tax -8%- than the richest fifth does - less than 2%. The Liberal Democrats will continue the campaign for the abolition of the Council Tax and its replacement by a fair system.
