Opportunity for All

We will ensure that the Borough is a hive of opportunity for learning, skills development and business growth. Below are just some of the things we have achieved and our plan for the future working with the Council, local businesses and residents.

Our record

• Created and protected over 8,000 new jobs in the Borough
• Regenerated Bedford town centre, including a new High Street and the Riverside development
• Attracted and invested £24 million into major traffic decongestion projects
• Set up the Jobs Hub that has helped over 1,800 people into work or training
• Promoted a wide range of festivals and events in the town centres

Our plan

• Deliver Wixams Station
• Work with colleges and businesses to improve education and skills
• Continue support for East West Rail, fighting for residents on four tracks and electrification from day one
• Promote apprenticeships for adults of any age
• Continue working with property owners to bring together plans for an exciting town centre offer in Mayes Yard

Whilst others talk down our Borough and town centres, we are ambitious. We will continue to invest and create partnerships, improving the prospects of residents and businesses and ensuring opportunity for all.
