Henry Vann, local campaigner said: "The picture coming out of Westminster is absolutely appalling. Some MPs seem to be profiteering from taxpayer's money, and it is sickening.
"There is a desperate need for immediate action on expenses and we need a general election so the public can have their say.
"Plenty of people in Bedford and Kempston commute to London every day and, if elected, I would do exactly the same."
