Pints in the Parishes at The Plough, Bolnhurst on Tuesday night
A belated thanks to Martin, Jayne and Michael and all their team at the Plough, and also of course to everyone at the pub on Tuesday night for the warm welcome on Tuesday evening at the latest 'Pints in the Parishes.' I enjoyed discussing a number of issues facing residents in Bolnhurst, Keysoe and other villages nearby. Speeding came up as a problem, as it did more commonly than any other issue during my recent village tour. I have a meeting with the Chief Superintendent next week, and will be discussing again how the Council can work most effectively with the police on effective speeding enforcement across the Borough.

Bedford Borough 'Must Not Become a Honey Pot for Criminals' says Mayor Dave Hodgson in CCTV debate
Mayor Dave Hodgson declared that Bedford Borough 'must not be allowed to become a honey pot for criminals' after the Conservatives questioned the use of CCTV in the Borough. Mayor Dave was speaking to the Council's Scrutiny Committee, after the Tories called for a review into two recent Council decisions to extend the use of targeted, effective CCTV in Bedford Borough.

Chief Secretary to the Treasury announces major clampdown on tax avoidance and evasion
Liberal Democrat Chief Secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander has announced a £900m attack on tax avoidance and evasion. The additional investment is expected to raise an extra £7bn each year by 2014/15 from those who currently avoid paying their fair share of tax.
