Dave Hodgson with Bodyflight Instructors Chris Durrant and Dave Danskin after doing 'The Swoop'

The Swoop - An Invigorating Start to the Day!

As someone who doesn't even particularly relish the prospect of riding on rollercoasters, I surprised myself by agreeing to try out 'The Swoop' at Bodyflight in Clapham when I visited on Friday morning. The Swoop may sound like a harmless enough name for an attraction, but it involves a jumping off a building 110 feet up and travelling at over 35 miles per hour along a 200 feet zip wire to the ground (http://www.bodyflight.co.uk/facilities/swoop.html) . Mayor Dave Hodgson conducts the 'Pints in the Parishes' draw

Full 'Pints in the Parishes' Schedule

Having received an excellent response from Parish Councils after inviting them to nominate a local pub as a venue for one of the monthly 'Pints in the Parishes' events, I had to conduct a draw to identify at random the pubs I will be visiting. CAMPING SUPPLIES WELCOMED ON ILLEGAL CAMPSITE

Cllr Phil Merryman, Liberal Democrat Goldington Ward, has this week welcomed caravans and other equipment onto a previous illegal Gypsy and Traveller site. The old MFI site in Norse Road has been plagued by illegal encampments. Cllr Merryman said, "I am really pleased to see these caravans on this site as it means the new occupier, Go Outdoors, is now preparing to move in. Whilst the site may look like it is been occupied by Travellers again this is not the case and we wanted to assure local residents this is a welcome development for this site."

Kite Festival a Great Success

The Bedford Kite Festival was visited by over 40,000 people last weekend - a record turnout. I was there on Saturday and spent time talking to kite flyers, stall holders and residents who had come down to enjoy the wonderful array of kites. Unfortunately the conditions on Saturday were not helpful to kite-flying, but that didn't seem to be hampering anyone's ability to enjoy themselves.
