Henry Vann sets out priorities for Bedford and Kempston at public meeting

Henry Vann spoke at a hustings meeting at the Ent Shed on Wednesday 28th April with the Conservative and Labour Party candidates for Bedford and Kempston. At the meeting he set out his priorities for Bedford and Kempston: Fair taxes; a fair start in life for children and young people through greater investment in local education; jobs growth locally including investment in East-West rail; and political reform to make politics fairer.

Launch of 'Pints in the Parishes'

I will soon be embarking on a series of 'Pints in the Parishes' events to enable direct, ongoing contact with the Borough's rural residents in an informal setting. I have written to each of the Borough's Parish Councils asking them if they would like to nominate a local pub in their area which would be happy host the event in their parish.

Mayor Dave Hodgson Criticises Government's 'Arbitrary and Unreasonable' Approach on Gypsy and Traveller Pitch Targets

Mayor Dave Hodgson has criticised the Government over the process which has resulted in Bedford Borough being forced to accept a requirement for Gypsy and Traveller pitches in the Borough which is two-and-a-half times the independently assessed need. Mayor Hodgson has attacked the arbitrary target, stating that it bears no relation to the needs of the Borough, its local neighbourhoods, or of Gypsies and Travellers

Councillor says- Sign up for faster broadband in your village now!

Councillor Sarah Holland, Liberal Democrat Eastcotts Ward, is calling on all residents in Bedfordshire villages to sign up to help get faster broadband in their area. "BT are reactive, depending on how big a demand there is for a service in a particular area. The more people shout up about broadband in our villages the more chance we have of getting it." She said after a recent meeting with BT officials.

Bus Passes Go Further In Bedford Borough

Cllr Michael Headley today reminded all those with an eligible bus pass that not only does it cover off-peak bus travel but it also covers peak travel too within Bedford Borough Council's boundaries.
