Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg has sent a message of congratulations to the new Mayor of Bedford Dave Hodgson. Commenting on the victory of Liberal Democrat Dave Hodgson in the Bedford Mayoral election, Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg said:
Liberal Democrat Dave Hodgson has been elected the new Mayor of Bedford at the Bedford Corn Exchange. Lib Dem Dave led the vote by just over 300 votes at the end of the 1st preference votes, and when second preference votes were redistributed, extended his majority to just over 2,000 votes over the Conservative candidate.
Dave Hodgson has been elected as the Mayor of Bedford Borough.
The result of the first preference votes cast in the Bedford Borough Mayoral By-Election have been announced. Dave Hodgson received the most first preference votes of all candidates, and goes into a second round with the Conservative Candidate, in which the second preference votes of the other candidates are re-allocated, with a lead of 323.
Lib Dem Hodgson is 400 votes ahead of the Conservative candidate on 1st preference votes in the Bedford Mayoral Election. The 1st round votes have been announced and have Dave Hodgson first on 9,428 votes to the Conservative's 9,105.
