Lib Dems Demand General Election!

Following the resignation of Tony Blair, Liberal Democrats have called for a General Election. Ming Campbell, Lib Dem Leader said "Before the last General Election Tony Blair pledged to serve a full third term and the British electorate voted for him on this basis. Now the Prime Minister is leaving it is only right that the British public have their say on who will be their next Prime Minister."

County Council backs Lib Dem Motion on ID Cards

This week at a meeting of Bedfordshire County Council the Council voted to back Liberal Democrat Deputy Leader Councillor Susan Gaszczak's motion to have nothing to do with ID Cards unless required to do so by law.

Election Result 2007

Bedford Borough Liberal Democrats increased their number of council seats to 16 as they won the Brickhill ward election from the Conservatives. Charles Royden won the seat by almost 600 votes from the nearest challenger, on a night when the Lib Dems also won all 6 seats they were defending.

Lib Dem Pays Fair as Opposition to Unjust Post Office Charge Continues

With residents receiving their new council tax bills for the year this month, Lib Dems on Bedford Borough Council are continuing to highlight the unfairness of the additional charge that is forced upon those who pay their bill at the post office. Lib Dem Borough Councillor Paul Whitehead, who spoke out against the Post Office charges when they were examined by the council's Corporate & Resource committee in December, has now taken action by cancelling his own direct debit to the council and paying by a "Help the Aged" credit card instead.
