This week the Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson recognised International Overdose Awareness Day, with the goal of raising awareness about overdoses in Bedford Borough, reducing the stigma surrounding addiction, and honouring the memory of friends and family who have lost their lives to substance use disorders.
Bedford Borough Council is inviting small businesses, community interest groups and non-profit organisations to bid for funding as part of the High Street Heritage Action Zone scheme.
Last year, Bedford Borough Parent Carer Forum (BBPCF) were awarded £100,000 from Bedford Borough Council through the Mayor's Youth Empowerment Fund to help build an inclusive and fully accessible outdoor area of play within the existing Russell Park play area.
Over the last month Mayor Dave Hodgson has welcomed a number of new businesses who have made Bedford Borough their home and are creating new jobs locally. Mayor Dave has made it a priority to ensure the Borough supports new opportunities for business, jobs and skills development following the pandemic.
