Mayor Dave Hodgson has announced that as part of comprehensive traffic decongestion plans a new footbridge will be installed over Manton Lane in Bedford. A previous footbridge was replaced over ten years ago with a pedestrian crossing in an infamous move by the former Conservative County Council, despite the fact that the location already suffered from severe traffic congestion on a daily basis.
Bedford Borough Council currently has electric vehicle (EV) charging points in 28 locations in the Borough, including a dedicated EV car park at Riverside with more in the pipeline and is now looking to expand its EV infrastructure by seeking suggestions from residents for new locations.
Bin collections will be completed as normal on the August Bank Holiday. If your rubbish, recycling or garden waste bin is due for collection on Monday 30th August please place your bin out for collection by 6am on your normal day of collection.
Figures from July reveal the number of electric vehicle charging points per 100,000 people in Bedford Borough (49.8) is double the regional average (25). Commenting on the data Mayor Dave Hodgson said, "These figures show that there is nowhere better in the East of England to own an electric vehicle and we are committed to increasing numbers of charging points across Bedford Borough. This is an important part of driving down emissions and making sure we reach our commitment to be a net zero carbon council by 2030".
