Jamie Oliver might think the nation can't cook but let me tell you, we certainly can bake! I went to some of the Macmillan Coffee Mornings being held around our area this morning and there were some great cakes to have with your cup of coffee, fundraisers had clearly made a huge effort and the coffee mornings I went to were well attended so the effort seemed to have paid off. A beautifully detailed iced cake being raffled at the hospital was really a work of art!
I visited Bletsoe today, along with members of my campaign team. We met many local residents who were keen to raise a variety of issues with us, including travellers' sites, education and consideration for the rural areas.
Out and about today I came across a real gem. Caffe Piccolo and Bakery (little cafe) is situated in the parade of shops in Clapham High Street.
I was grateful today for the opportunity to visit Guru Nanak Gurdwara, Sikh Temple in Queens Park. The magnificent Gurdwara is one of those serving the large and vibrant local Sikh community.
2pm down at Mill Meadows and Bedford Town Band struck up the Dambusters March! It was stirring stuff and part of the 2009 Bandstand Marathon taking place across the UK. At the event a plaque to the first elected Mayor of Bedford, Frank Branston, was unveiled.
