Highways England Announces Preferred Options for Black Cat Roundabout and new Dual Carriageway

Highways England has today announced the preferred route of the new dual carriageway between the Black Cat Roundabout and Caxton Gibbet and the preferred new configuration of the Black Cat roundabout, and Mayor Dave Hodgson has responded by calling on the agency and on the Government to ensure there are no further delays for this crucial project. Today's announcement comes two years after the public consultation on the options for the remodelled junction and new section of road, while the 2021/22 start date for the project has already been subject to what Mayor Dave has described as an 'appalling' two-year delay.

New 5k run announced in Bedford.

Organisers have added a 5k run to compliment this year's Bedford Half-Marathon and Twilight 10k. The 5k run and the Twilight 10k will take place on 31st August with the Half-Marathon taking place on 1st September.

Network Rail are holding an information event ahead of their works on Bromham Bridge which will start on Monday 4th March. Their information event will take place at the Park Inn Hotel, 2 St Mary's Street, Bedford, MK42 0AR on Friday 22nd February between 3pm aand 7pm.

That's why I announced at a meeting of the Council's Executive this week that we've asked council officers to start work on what further measures we can take to both cut the Council's carbon emissions even further and what actions we could take to help Bedford Borough become carbon neutral.

East West Rail Consultation on 15 February at Scott Hall

There will be a East West Rail consultation event this Thursday (15 February), where you can see the five proposed route plans and speak to the East West Rail Company. The consultation will be at Scott Hall, Barford Avenue MK42 0DS from 3.30pm to 7.30pm.
